Unless you have been living under a rock, their has been a torrent of Plugin upgrades since Version 2.8 was released. Upgrading a Plugin on a single blog or two is easy although sometimes the automatic upgrade fails. What if you have numerous WordPress Blogs that need lots of Plugin upgrades? What is the fastest and best way to pefrom these upgrades?

My procedure saves me lots of time and is far more efficient:

(1) Navigate to the Plugin page for Blog number 1 via the Dashboard.
(2) Deactivate the Plugin which needs an upgrade.
(3) Since automatic upgrades sometimes fail and take far to long, I download the zip and decompress same. All my upgraded plugins are placed in the same folder.
(4) Launch my FTP client and overwrite the old version of the Plugin
(5) My Dashboard Plugin page is still running so I activate the Plugin I just upgraded
(6) I may run a quick test with the Plugin and test the Blog

This procedure really saves you time when numerous WordPress Plugins need upgrades. Upgrading Blog Number 2 and beyond is very fast since the download and decompressed archive is already on my local machine. Finally, I only navigate to the Plugin page in each Blog and repeate the procedure.
